corner religion

Wyatt during service at Grace Episcopal / Concord, NH (Oct 2012)

There's some R.E.M. joke to be made here, but I'm never nearly as clever as its required to be funny. The election is coming in nine days and I can't wait to get back to photographing things like this.

lost and found

Erica and Brody reunited / Henniker, NH (Oct 2012)

He went missing for four hours after wandering off into the woods. A farmer found him next to a tractor, crying. It probably made whatever was going on this week seem trivial.

Kearsarge Regional High School at halftime of Friday night football. North Sutton, NH. (oct 2012)

working here sometimes makes me forget to react to curiosity. gotta find the energy to engage more.

Mes and Michael in their backyard on her 19th birthday.

This summer, between shooting for the paper and traveling to visit friends, I was lucky to make time to fly back to Ohio to continue photographing the McKees. Jameska gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Robert James in late August and she asked me to continue photographing her life. Not like she needed to ask. I made it down for the baby shower where it all really caught up to me. How fast life moves. They also hadn't seen me in a year.

"When are YOU having kids?"

Photographically, emotionally, I was overwhelmed.

These photos are from the trip I made for the birth. It was longer. Jameska let me stay on her couch most of the week. I was able to catch up with Nykki and Roxy as well. It was long and sleep deprived and worthwhile. More from these photos will surface soon.

Roxy on Mes's car in the parking lot of her new apartment. Rox is starting the first grade this year.

Nykki and Baby Brandon, 10 months, at the hospital waiting on Mes to deliver. Nykki gave birth to a baby girl named Gracelyn a few weeks later.

Brandon's new tattoo.

Tonya and Mason. Two years ago, we were waiting at the same hospital for Mason to arrive.

Mes during her 16-hour delivery.

three from the thirteen, nh coast, april '12

its a weird feeling to want to work my ass off and tell all the stories unfortunate enough to land on the business end of my gaze but feel stretched thin.

i don't have the luxury these days to philosophize about the balance of work and life and how it should be done and how i will look back on these days on my death bed. but i do have the luxury of friends, carpooling to the shortest coast in the land and greasy dunkin donuts sandwiches.

it will be clear soon enough that this will add up to something.

an interlude

The swimming pool / Nashua, NH

I'm sitting on a stinky pile of undigested primary photos, but wanted to post this one for now. A moment snagged between Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich at a fancy hotel where a county GOP party took place.

day one, part two

a few days behind because things are so hectic. tonight i'll be at the the first of two national debates in 24 hours. brad and i heard this great line on the radio today. it was something to the effect of "enjoy this circus while you can, because after it's over, it's just winter."

the hunt

these images are from the first day of a week long stretch of chanting, clapping, sign-waving and slogan-slinging. the huntsman campaign bypassed iowa's caucus and focused on new hampshire. my wednesday was spent split between a few candidates, but here's what came of the hunt.
