dominicanooo

one reggaeton-filled afternoon with a tiny slice of the domincan community in anticipation of their independence day. the celebration had the social clout of a family picnic so variety was kind of rough, but the light was pretty lovely. the music was so loud, i couldn't think. maybe that's why i liked some of the quieter photos from this assignment.

fatima

Fatima, 3, is a part of a bigger story I'm working on with Kique. She tests my patience, but is too funny to not pay attention to sometimes. Like when she pulls her mom's old, broken cell phone out of her pocket and imitates the exasperated conversations she's seen the adults around her have. She whispers and sighs her way through a string of random Spanish interjections. "Pero...pues...mira..."

I hope I get this one right.

orange

The paper received a letter expressing outrage over the new road sign at the intersection of Las Olas Blvd and A1A. While I tried to find someway to photograph these black poles, I met him.
